Ping has been introduced in iTunes 10, which is most probably similar to Last.FM. Awesome stuff!

On the iPhone, it improves the signal strength to display it more accurately. It however does not fix the entire problem. That’s best you can get right now. On the iPad, WiFi connectivity has been improved and Bing has been added to their optional search engine list.

Safari 5 was released today with a list of new features. I know, what’s there to improve in Safari right? Its already too good. Safari 4 was redesigned last year. This year, Safari 5 didn’t get a major UI upgrade. Just those tiny bits to make it look cooler. However a bunch of new features has been added.

Safari Reader

I would say this is one of the best new feature in Safari 5. It detects an article in a page, once you click on the Enter Reader button. It’ll bring a light-box like pop-up with just the article. Nothing else, even ads are removed. There are a few on screen controls such as zoom in, zoom out, email and print. With the zoom in and zoom out controls, you can easily adjust the font size to suit your needs.

More HTML5 Support

A lot of new HTML5 tags and HTML5 features were added to ensure that this browser remains powerful till the next release of Safari arrives.

Faster and better

Safari 5 is using Nitro, its Javascript engine. It provides better speed, Safari 5 on the Mac runs 30% faster than Safari 4. It also runs 3% faster than Chrome 5 and twice as fast as on Firefox 3.6.

Also DNS prefetching has been added and their caching has been improved. With DNS prefetching, Safari loads those links in advanced and caches them. This loads the page faster once you click on it. Safari + Bing

Bing has been added to Safari but as a secondary search option, just like they did for Safari for iPhone in iOS4 yesterday. I don’t know how this happened but oh well, here you go. Bing for Safari, nothing much to say here. Continuing…

Safari Developer Program

Finally, Safari Developer Program. This allows developers to build extensions to extend user browsing. Its similar to Chrome Extensions. Safari extensions allows you to use the latest web standards, you can use HTML5, Javascript and CSS3 in an extension. You can join the Safari Developer Program for free and start submitting your extensions. All you need is some general knowledge on building a simple website, and you’re ready to go.

The Worldwide Developer Conference 2010 started with Steve Jobs keynote

Previous rumors were that the Macbook line was in store to get a refresh, apparently it’s official. Apple silently updated their Apple Store with the new specs of the lower end Macbook. Now with NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics and 10 hours battery life. The new Macbook is only available in certain countries right now, in a while it should be available globally.

Today is the 13th of April and guess what, the Apple Store is down. So when the Apple Store is down, what do you say? YAY! Previous rumors were that of a possible refresh on the Macbook Pro’s and Mac Pro’s line which was predicted to be on April 13th.

Can you believe it, I’ve been waiting for this day and hell it can’t get more exciting.

Apple Store, Apple Store, please bring us some new Macbook Pro’s. Please, please, please?
